In 2023, China's lithium-ion battery (hereinafter referred to as "lithium-ion battery") industry will continue its growth trend. According to the lithium battery industry standard announcement enterprise information and industry association calculations, the total production of lithium-ion batteries in the country will exceed 940 GWh, a year-on-year increase of 25%, and the industry's total output value will exceed 1.4 trillion yuan.
In the battery sector, the production of consumer, power, and energy storage lithium batteries from January to December was 80GWh, 675GWh, and 185GWh, respectively. The installed capacity of lithium batteries (including new energy vehicles and new energy storage) exceeded 435GWh. Export trade continues to grow, with the total export value of lithium batteries in China reaching 457.4 billion yuan from January to December, a year-on-year increase of over 33%.
In the first-order material stage, the production of positive electrode materials, negative electrode materials, separators, and electrolytes from January to December reached 2.3 million tons, 1.65 million tons, 15 billion square meters, and 1 million tons, respectively, with an increase rate of over 15%.
In the secondary material stage, the production of lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide from January to December was about 463000 tons and 285000 tons respectively. The average prices of battery grade lithium carbonate and battery grade lithium hydroxide (micro powder grade) were 258000 yuan/ton and 273000 yuan/ton, respectively.
The prices of lithium battery industry products have shown a significant decline throughout the year, with prices of battery cells and battery grade lithium salts decreasing by over 50% and 70% respectively from January to December.
